Fearing Ebola is Different to Dying From It

For Americans, it’s the end of the world
For us, it’s the end of the week
And as we lay hungover and dumb
Liberians lay outside heaving hospitals
And in their bedrooms

In America, there’s something of a cure
Here? We might have our first case, now second
But while we plug ourselves full of fixing fluids
People just like us dig into the ground, taking their families with them

Some problems need to knock on the door, or the GDP
Some speak from the church altar, or through media ministry
But however easy to name the enemy at arm’s length
Fearing Ebola is different to dying from it
